The purpose of a media strategy is to garner media attention. This is usually no easy feat with multiple factors influencing the kind of run a story will get.
Think other news of the day (a federal government leadership spill, a mass shooting, big international affairs to name a few), the newsroom size, publication audience, other news trends and more.
Here are some examples of my pieces that have cut through the rest and seen the light of the media-day.
PRINT: I was approached by The Canberra Times as part of a story on granny flats and backyard homes in Canberra. What I didn’t expect was a front page feature and double page spread about me!
PRESS RELEASE: This media release was written to support editorial content and attract media attention to cast a wider talent net for this recruitment agency. Following the distribution of the release coverage was seen across multiple channels, as well as news.com.au and Fairfax Media.
ARTICLE: A positive article from The Canberra Times following my media strategy and publicity for the Coaching Boys Into Men program.
VIDEO: Features as a first home buyer on WIN News, Canberra. This clip demonstrates my ability to speak on camera and give news grabs.
PRINT: This interview was to highlight the case of an abused dog and search for the attacker. Pieces like these are also a way to remind people what the RSPCA is about and the role it plays in society.
VIDEO: This was a little bit of fun to promote adopting animals over buying designer dog breeds off the internet. It was released to coincide with the latest Star Wars film and piggyback on the traditional media hype and fanfare.
PRINT: This interview sought to discuss and dispel rumours of dog fighting rings around Canberra.
PRINT: This interview was to discuss the different career pathways that present themselves following a university degree. This piece covers my transition from journalist to media liaison with RSPCA NSW.
